Introduction for everyone new to Astanga Yoga and Mysore teaching
Welcome to Ashtanga Yoga Introduction course! Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional and dynamic style of yoga that combines breath and movement to create a flowing and meditative practice. In this class, you will learn the basics of Ashtanga Yoga and begin to develop a foundation for your practice.
First, we will start with a simple breathing exercise to help calm the mind and focus the attention. Then, we will move into the Sun Salutation sequence, which is a fundamental part of the Ashtanga Yoga practice. We will break down each posture in detail, giving you the opportunity to explore proper alignment and breathing techniques.
Throughout the class, we will emphasize the importance of linking the breath with the movement, and encourage you to move mindfully and with awareness. Ashtanga Yoga is a physical practice, but it is also a meditative one, and we hope that you will gain this insight and leave feeling refreshed, energized, and calm.
After the Introduction course you can continue your practice in the Mysore classes where you will move on to the primary series poses, which include standing postures, seated postures, and inversions. Each pose will be introduced step-by-step, and modifications will be offered for those who need them.
Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced yogi, this Introduction course will help you develop a solid foundation for your Ashtanga Yoga practice. We look forward to practicing with you!
Introductory class:
- Introduction to the Astanga method with a focus on individual prerequisites.
- Instruction for positioning, breathing, bhandas (body locks), focusing, timing, float etc.
- A simple practice routine you can use right away.
- You can start directly on our regular classes after the introduction.
